Debbie’s primary theoretical orientations as a counselor include family systems and cognitive behavioral, as well as play therapy with children. No one exists in a vacuum. On some level, we are all impacted by our families – past or present. It can be very helpful to look beyond an individual to the functioning/health of the family system of the individual. Also, many of us have beliefs which may be rooted on faulty premises. Debbie believes that our thoughts determine our behaviors. Before we try to change our behaviors, it can be helpful to explore the thoughts driving those actions.
